In remote areas of Australia, the cost and logistical challenges of addressing mechanical failures can quickly escalate, especially for critical facilities like water treatment plants where immediate maintenance is vital to avoid disruptions.
Motion’s Engineering and Services Team has developed a range of capabilities specifically to address these challenges.
Steve Zimmermann, Motion’s General Manager, and Joel Lanham, its site manager, discuss the evolution of their relationship with a prominent water treatment plant.
“We started on-site as pump specialists, handling servicing and rebuilds,” Joel explains. Initially, their work was on an ad-hoc basis, as the plant primarily employed operators and subcontracted all maintenance tasks.
Due to the high standard of work provided by the Motion Engineering and Services Team, their role at the plant became permanent. Based on two separate customer sites, the team’s constant presence ensures they can swiftly respond to any breakdowns or emergencies. This readiness guarantees that operations at the water treatment plant continue without interruptions, safeguarded by the skilled hands of Motion’s Engineering and Services Team.
“Now, we’ve expanded to cover all mechanical aspects at the site—from fixing doors to maintaining pumps and compressors,” Joel adds. This broad scope of work ensures that every mechanical component of the water treatment process is expertly managed, maintaining continuous, efficient operations.
Motion’s Engineering and Services Team’s expertise also extends to precise tasks such as motor and gearbox alignments, vibration monitoring and analysis, and the maintenance of complex machinery.
