The world’s first water-free Clesana C1 mobile toilet wipes out pongs, reinvents hygiene, and boosts sustainability even on the most challenging industrial sites.
The world’s first mobile water-free toilet with a welded shut sanitary bag is being introduced to Australia by the exclusive national distributor, Clesana AU, to curb odour and eliminate close handling of human waste.
The proven European portable toilet can be used anywhere on remote and environmentally sensitive worksites, including those where sustainable OH&S is needed in workplaces that are difficult for construction and maintenance staff to leave when nature calls. Examples range from maintenance inside energy generation wind towers between 100 and 150 metres above the land or sea to tower cranes and lifting facilities where essential operating staff are far from traditional facilities.
The easily installed Clesana C1 – which can be fitted to both mobile and static machinery – serves the broad spectrum of workplaces not served by established sewerage facilities, including:
- Mining and energy production worksites, which increasingly have to cater to both men’s and women’s needs
- Construction, infrastructure, exploration, and pipeline worksites, where mobility of facilities is important
- Remote and environmentally sensitive food, beverage and primary production worksites, where employees and facilities are subject to strict sustainability and OH&S requirements
- Manufacturing, production, transport, distribution and process engineering worksites where key staff may find it difficult to leave their post for extended periods
- Remote port and waterway facilities where environmental protection is paramount
“This innovation reinvents hygiene, comfort, and environmental sustainability in one product,” said Sebastian Langton, Director of Clesana AU (an operation of Vanable Australia). “It wipes out, in one stroke, so many of the odour, waste handling, and associated mucky problems and environmental and health issues that come with many types of cassette toilets, chemical toilets, composting toilets, and dry fluid toilets where waste does not seal properly and poses risks both to users and to the environment.”
“By heat-sealing used waste packets – which come in roll offering up to 100 uses – the Clesana method removes any need to handle human waste and other debris that goes into a toilet. The pongs and waste that go in the bag stay in the bag – nothing needs to be manually sorted, scraped, handled, carried distances, or disposed of on development, production, transport, or distribution sites.”
Features include:
- Easy operation. Pressing the big button on the Clesana heat seals the bag’s contents. Small waste can be left until enough in the bag to seal, as the user prefers. Big waste can be sealed immediately.
- Uncompromisingly effective liner foil system for the bags used, which contains not only the waste, but also the germs, bacteria and viruses necessary for a clean, secure and odour-free environment.
- Easily disposable bags, which can be treated as general waste, compared with less secure methods which can pollute land, marine and waterway environments that are subject to increasingly demanding statutory and compliance obligations
- Easy installation and retrofitting to any application that is not connected to conventional plumbing, which may include facilities within static and mobile machinery or a broad range of temporary workplace buildings
- Proven performance in existing established markets extending from tiny homes to the largest RV and marine applications, where the Clesana handles not only human solid and liquid waste but also sanitary products, vomit, food scraps, and materials that pollute workplaces and environments.

Clesana’s distribution in Australia is backed by the engineering, technical and distribution facilities of Vanable Australia’s established 2,500 sq m plant in Waterloo, Sydney, at the heart of the city’s national distribution district, serving nearby land, air and marine facilities.
