Three of Australia’s leading water advisory specialists have joined forces in a major industry move set to reshape the delivery of water, environment, and energy projects nationwide.

Sequana, one of Australia’s fastest-growing strategic water advisory and project management consultancies, has partnered with Atlas Engineering Group, a technical leader in brownfield water and wastewater programs, and IPS (Infrastructure Project Solutions), a Brisbane-based engineering and construction delivery specialist, to connect the dots across the entire infrastructure lifecycle.

This expanded partnership unites Sequana’s project management expertise, Atlas’s technical capabilities, and IPS’s experience in infrastructure and construction. Together, they form a team of around 200 professionals offering end-to-end infrastructure solutions throughout the asset lifecycle, from planning and design to delivery and long-term management.

“This is a major step forward for our clients, the sector and our people,” said Frank Fisseler, Sequana Co-Founder and CEO. “This is more than a partnership, it’s a step-change in how we solve Australia’s most complex water and infrastructure challenges. By bringing Atlas and IPS into the Sequana fold, we now offer a fully integrated, end-to-end solution, from strategy to delivery. It expands our impact, sharpens our execution, and reinforces our commitment to shaping a sustainable future. It’s a bold move that stays true to who we are: adaptable, client-focused, and driven by professional excellence.”

This partnership is a key milestone in Sequana’s growth strategy following its 2024 investment from Pemba Capital Partners. Since 2019, Sequana has established itself as a trusted advisor for complex water infrastructure projects across Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia.

Atlas, known for its expertise in brownfield water and wastewater programs, expands Sequana’s capabilities in New South Wales and Victoria. Founder Scott Rudram noted that the partnership opens new opportunities.

“Sequana’s strong leadership, culture and advisory depth complement our technical capability,” Rudram said. “Our people will benefit from broader project exposure, career pathways, and shared learning across both teams. It’s a win for our client and our people. The industry can be quite “segmented” at times, which presents some interesting opportunities for improvement, particularly considering the technology developments of recent years. LIFECYCLe Solutions is about creating a holistic approach to the asset lifecycle, supported by a suite of tools, skills, and technology that enhance information management and decision-making. Integrating this capability with Sequana and IPS’ existing services is a natural progression – we’re looking to break down that industry “segmentation” and help clients make faster, more informed decisions to achieve their business goals and meet customer needs.”

IPS, founded by Queensland’s Professional Engineer of the Year, Sascha Kurz, boasts a team with a proven record in complex infrastructure projects. The company enhances its capabilities with expert construction management and technical engineering experience.

“This partnership enables us to go further and deliver smarter solutions for clients,” said Sascha Kurz, Founder of IPS. “IPS’s experience delivering complex projects for clients across Queensland has afforded us first-hand experience of the regulatory challenges faced by local councils, government-owned corporations and agencies, as well as delivery partners, in executing critical community projects such as water quality, health and water security initiatives. Our understanding of the regulatory framework, associated timeframes, and inter-agency functionality required to deliver such projects ensures we are well-placed to bring these learnings to new clients across the country. Our in-house technical expertise, coupled with our deep experience delivering government-funded infrastructure, enables us to engage and advise our clients to achieve ‘best for project’ outcomes.”

Sequana has been recognised as a Great Place to Work for three consecutive years, thanks to its leading Employee Value Proposition, which includes the Sequana Academy, personalised leadership coaching, and structured mentorship programs. IPS was also shortlisted for the AFR’s Best Places to Work in 2024.

The Sequana–Atlas–IPS partnership, with a strong project pipeline and national presence, is set to transform the delivery of water, environmental, and energy infrastructure in Australia.
