Smart valve brings metering and control together

AMS Instrumentation & Calibration has introduced the ISOIL THERMAG Valve CS611 ISONRG, a compact smart valve designed for heating and cooling systems.

The product combines a two-way control valve with an integrated electromagnetic thermal energy meter.

AMS said the device provides energy control, energy calculation and billing in accordance with EN1434 and the MID directive 2014/32/EU.

The THERMAG Valve is designed for new and existing buildings where operators need to measure, monitor and control energy use.

What does the THERMAG Valve measure?

The THERMAG Valve measures and monitors energy consumption in heating and cooling systems.

It can manage water and glycol-based mixtures while maintaining high accuracy for conductive thermal fluids.

The product uses electromagnetic flowmeter technology based on Faraday’s Law of electromagnetic induction.

That means voltage is induced when conductive liquid moves through a magnetic field.

AMS said the technology provides 0.8 per cent r.v. accuracy for conductive thermal fluid, including mixtures with additives.

How does the smart valve support building systems?

The THERMAG Valve is designed to connect with Building Management Systems and IoT platforms.

It can be programmed to control flow rate based on several selected quantities via an Ethernet port or communication protocols, including MODbus and BACnet.

Those control quantities include flowrate, thermal power, temperature differential, inlet temperature, outlet temperature, pressure differential and external source inputs from a process or BMS.

This makes the product relevant to facilities seeking closer control of heating and cooling performance.

Why combine metering and control in one device?

The THERMAG Valve integrates the valve and meter into a single compact body.

AMS said the all-in-one design reduces installation time while supporting performance consistency.

The valve body is made from DZR anticorrosive brass, while the flow sensor uses PEEK with HC276 electrodes.

This integrated approach may reduce the need for separate devices while supporting metering, control, and billing.
