South East Water’s Group Manager Asset and Program Delivery, Priscilla Chung, has been recognised as an Emerging Leader at the annual Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) Top 50 Public Sector Women Awards.

The IPAA Emerging Leader Award recognises women at all levels of government for their leadership, dedication and accomplishment in the public sector.

Chung was recognised for leading several initiatives at South East Water to ensure the reliability of water and sewer assets that support customers and the community and protect the environment.

Chung’s accomplishments include leading an Integrated Planning and Delivery (IPD) model to improve efficiencies in delivering major projects, the proactive transformation of South East Water’s maintenance and renewals program to ensure service reliability, minimising customer disruption, and preventing sewer spills that impact the environment.

South East Water Managing Director Lara Olsen congratulated Priscilla on the prestigious honour.

“We’re incredibly proud of how Priscilla’s leadership and innovation have improved our ability to deliver healthy water for life for our customers, community, and environment,” said Olsen.

“Priscilla is an insightful and experienced people leader who has empowered her team through an equitable and inclusive work environment. She’s also an accomplished engineer who continues to be a strong advocate for girls and women to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) roles, including mentoring mid-career and young female engineers.”

“I’m honoured to be recognised as an emerging leader among an exceptional group of public sector women who all work to inspire those around us,’ said Chung. “I’m very fortunate to lead a team that can optimise our operations to support a thriving, more liveable community and protect our environment. I’ll continue to advocate for an equitable work culture in the public sector, where our teams reflect the diversity of our customers, differences are welcomed, and ideas are valued. With the right opportunities, tools, and support, we can all be empowered to deliver great outcomes.”
