Central Highlands Water (CHW) continues to invest in the future with a $3 million Ballarat Southern Trunk Sewer Project commencing as part of the Ballarat West Growth Area (BWGA).

Once complete, the project will help secure the wastewater needs for this service area. It will contribute towards the City of Ballarat’s population growth to over 160,000 by 2040.

Located in Smythes Creek, the project involves the construction of a 1.78 km trunk sewer pipeline around the Pinnacle and Cherryside Estates. It will connect to the new Cherry Flat Road Sewer Pump Station that is also under construction as part of a separate project.

The pipeline will support future land development, allowing for further residential housing construction and will service the Ballarat West Growth Area.
