Pollution notices and fines of up to $600,000 have highlighted increasing regulatory focus on odour control at treatment facilities. Furthermore, pollution notices can now commonly require facility enclosure and major infrastructure upgrades, forcing operators in Australia and New Zealand into multi-million-dollar CAPEX investments that disrupt operations.

Environmental technology experts Chaim Kolominskas and Danny Craggs from Envirosuite will discuss current and emerging approaches to improving odour management, examining early warning and forecasting of potential odour events, better root cause analysis and other proactive strategies that can improve both compliance and engagement with the community.

“Effective odour management is critical to avoid the regulatory spotlight and operational continuity,” Kolominskas said. “We’ll be taking a look at established practices that have been commonplace for decades and weigh them up against new and emerging approaches that could help facilities navigate today’s regulatory environment in Australia and New Zealand.”

The webinar will take place at 12:00 PM AEDT on March 19, 2025, and is relevant to operational and environmental management and other stakeholders involved in environmental management at wastewater treatment plants.
