Inside Construction Expo: Engineering the Future

Melbourne will host the 2023 Inside Construction Expo from 20-21 September, allowing the construction industry to come together.

Melbourne will host the 2023 Inside Construction Expo from 20-21 September, providing a unique opportunity for the entire construction industry to come together for Victoria’s leading major infrastructure and construction trade exhibition and conference.

The construction industry is a critical pillar of the Australian economy and a fundamental partner to the water industry. It generated north of $437 billion in revenue and was responsible for about nine per cent of Australia’s Gross Domestic Product in 2022. The sector has a projected annual growth rate of 2.4% over the next five years.

With investments in new and existing infrastructure projects in every state and territory, the Australian Government’s national rolling 10-year infrastructure investment pipeline will increase from $110 billion to $120 billion, a new record, significantly boosting the sector.

The 2022-23 Victorian Budget continues the State’s investment in a significant pipeline of projects, with $85.3 billion in general government spending on infrastructure over the next four years.

However, the construction sector is facing significant challenges. Inside Construction Expo 2023 will provide the ideal environment to present and discuss answers to pressing issues, including:

  • Workforce management and skills shortages in the construction sector;
  • Managing the digital transformation of the construction industry and how that both affects, and is affected by, trends in the water industry;
  • Health and safety impacting the viability of the sector in the face of emerging industries
  • Developing and maintaining long-term sustainable partnerships across decades;
  • Handling increasing ESG requirements; and
  • How new technology is improving the sector and partner industries.

With a focus on major projects and civil construction, Inside Construction Expo will feature the following:

  • A world-class exhibition, providing companies with the opportunity to showcase their equipment and expertise
  • Keynote speeches, panel discussions and roundtables on the significant issues facing the industry
  • The Inside Construction Awards, recognising the best people, projects and innovations from across the construction industry in Australia
