Community Panel members gave their final recommendations on GWMWater’s pricing proposals as part of a 2023-2028 Water Price and Service Review.
The Panel was appointed in March 2022 to contribute to GWMWater’s Pricing Submission to the Essential Services Commission (ESC). The panel comprised 16 customers across GWMWater’s service area with a range of water user types, including rural, urban, pipeline, sewered and non-sewered customers. Read more
GWMWater Chairman Peter Vogel said the Community Panel insights would contribute to the water business’ submission. The submissions would be made in its customers’ best interests and help deliver quality services at an affordable price for 2023-28.
“The Community Panel enabled us to hear the views of customers who reflected the many different types of customers we serve, and their input has been invaluable,” Vogel said.
“We would like to thank the Panel and Chairperson Fay Hull for their time and commitment to the process.”
Community panel give their perspective
Panel member Mikahl Miles of Dimboola said she had an amazing experience on the Community Panel.
“It has significantly opened my eyes to all the behind-the-scenes work that GWMWater do. They work hard to ensure that the communities they support have access to adequate, clean water. GWMWater considers all aspects before making any decisions or changes,” Miles said.
“I feel privileged to have been involved on the Community Panel and encourage all community members to consider it when the opportunity arises again.”
Panel member and Elmhurst resident Tony Westerhoff said the panel made recommendations regarding future water projects. They included water upgrades and water quality improvements for rural and urban customers. The panel also recommended Guaranteed Service Levels and how GWMWater reports on its performance.
“I believe the panel’s deliberations will significantly impact some communities,” Westerhoff said.
