Unitywater has gone a step further than closing the gender pay gap for women, with a 0.55 per cent swing in the opposite direction.
Work180, a platform focused on improving workplace gender equality and diversity, has ranked the utility number one for pay equity and has topped the list in the mining, resources, and energy industries.
It also ranked eleventh when it came to paid parental leave.
People, Culture, and Safety Executive Manager Kenan Hibberd said the utility’s diversity and inclusion initiatives focused on attracting and retaining women and providing opportunities for their development.
“We are very proud we no longer have a gender pay gap for women at Unitywater and have pay equity in like-for-like roles,” he said.
“We have several initiatives, including our women’s development program, which has seen 45 leaders participate in unconscious bias training.
“It’s also encouraging to have high numbers of women in senior leadership and people management roles at 42% and 44% respectively.”
Hibberd said Unitywater’s Healthy Families Program provided 20 weeks of fully paid parental leave for the primary carer and four weeks for the secondary carer.
“We are committed to gender equality across our organisation, and this is just one of the ways we support growing families at Unitywater,” he said.
“We also provide superannuation payments on parental leave and a return-to-work payment to help with the transition back to the workplace.”
Unitywater has been an endorsed employer with Work180 since 2018.
