With all eyes on long-term water security and sustainability, water industry innovation is at the forefront of how water authorities plan to future-proof supply.

Central Highlands Water (CHW) will co-host the Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) 2022 Knowledge Sharing Conference. Participants across the industry will participate in collaborative workshops and listen to key presentations.

Topics include CHW’s inflow and infiltration initiative for sewer collection systems and making life easier for people in the field. Other topics will include digital metering, process intelligence, health safety and well-being, and the power of optimism. The sessions will be a combination of live-streamed and in-person presentations.

CHW Managing Director, Jeff Haydon, highlighted the Knowledge Sharing Conference as an excellent forum for Victoria’s water authorities to collaborate and discuss water industry innovation.

“We’re excited to be 1 of 3 regional hosts for this year’s conference. It is great to welcome our fellow water industry professionals to discuss areas where we can refine and improve processes for better customer outcomes and greater sustainability.

“CHW is already participating in some exciting technology trials as part of our involvement with IWN. That includes using ultrasonics to combat blue-green algae blooms, a biosolid sub-soil manuring project and virtual reality training,” Haydon said.

IWN’s core purpose is to work with their water corporation members to effectively trial and showcase intelligent new technologies, innovations and thinking, to improve processes and ultimately drive great customer and community outcomes.
