De Nora has been selected to supply Sentinel UV technology for the refurbishment of ultraviolet disinfection systems at PUB’s Johor River Waterworks.
The project was awarded by Flotech Controls, PUB’s appointed contractor.
PUB is Singapore’s national water agency, and Johor River Waterworks supports Singapore’s drinking water supply.
The existing UV systems were originally commissioned in 2011 and have provided disinfection as part of the treatment process.
Why is PUB refurbishing the UV systems?
The existing UV systems are approaching the later stages of their operational lifespan.
PUB commissioned a tender to replace or refurbish the systems so that the asset can continue to operate reliably.
Flotech Controls proposed a refurbishment-and-retrofit approach, supported by De Nora.
The approach was selected in part due to space constraints within the building housing the existing UV systems.

What will De Nora supply?
De Nora will provide its Sentinel UV technology with upgraded electronic ballast systems.
The project forms part of De Nora’s Sentinel retrofit program.
That program allows operators to modernise system performance while retaining core infrastructure.
By reusing key system components, the retrofit model can reduce material use, waste and the carbon dioxide footprint associated with full system replacement.
How will the upgraded UV system operate?
De Nora said the upgraded system will deliver improved operational performance, including extended lamp life and a reduced footprint.
Its medium-pressure UV technology is designed for demanding drinking water applications.
The company said the technology provides robust disinfection performance while helping operators simplify maintenance planning.
Flotech Controls selected the Sentinel UV system for its proven reliability in medium-pressure applications, ease of maintenance, and retrofittability into existing infrastructure.
Why does local support matter?
De Nora said the award reflects operator demand for water technologies that combine reliable performance with straightforward operation and serviceability.
The company’s established presence in Singapore, including local sales and aftersales support, was also a factor in the selection.
That local support is important for critical drinking water assets where maintenance access, operational continuity and response time matter.
Installation is scheduled for 2027.
