The first Inside Construction Expo Foundation Awards took place at the Showtime Events Centre on Wednesday, 20 September.
Inside Construction Editor Ashley Grogan opened the night by celebrating the Australian major construction and civil infrastructure industries and recognising the individuals, projects and businesses driving the sector forward.
“Tonight, we are here to acknowledge those leading the way to create positive change in the industry,” said Grogan. “They represent the greatness of the Australian construction industry and the bright future ahead.”
MC Dave Thornton gave the crowd plenty of laughs throughout the night.
The awards honoured individuals, organisations and projects helping to progress the industry in a multitude of ways.
Sarah Marshall from Fulton Hogan took out the Industry Leader category, while Christina Knorr from CJK Fire & Safety was recognised as Woman of the Year.

- The winner of the Industry Leader Award is Sarah Marshall from Fulton Hogan;
- The winner for the Woman of the Year category is Christina Knorr from CJK Fire & Safety Pty Ltd;
- The winner for the Rising Star of the Year (sponsored by Moddex) category is Sarah Frankson from Fulton Hogan;
- The winner of the Operational Excellence Award category is the Cross River Rail construction project from Mammoet Australia Pty Ltd;
- The winner for the Sustainability Initiative of the Year (sponsored by SAMI Bitumen Technologies) category is Material Processing Centre 2 (MPC 2) from Bingo Industries;
- The winner of the Safety Program Award (sponsored by Blackwoods) category is the Contractor Safety Management Program from Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC);
- The winner of the Technology Solution Award (sponsored by FRAMECAD) category is Autodesk Construction Cloud from Autodesk and
- The winner for the Local Government Project of the Year (sponsored by COG Advertising) category is the Northern Rivers Rail Trail from Hazell Bros Qld Pty Ltd.
